Paul is a Partner in our Electronics & Software and Engineering & Physics teams and is based in Halifax. He has a first class degree in physics from the University of Nottingham providing a background relevant to many technological sectors. Paul has particular interest in areas such as software, cryptography, consumer goods and packaging having worked for clients in these areas for over 20 years. Paul offers a broad service to clients including advising on patent and trade mark issues. Paul has experience working in-house at Pilkingtons and for a large firm of solicitors.
Paul works for a wide range of clients from global corporations, to UK businesses often seeking international protection. He particularly enjoys finding innovative ways of helping clients find ways of protecting their intellectual property or solving problems clients have with third party IP. He advises on patent and trade mark filing and prosecution strategy internationally. Paul has extensive experience of Hearings before the European Patent Office.
Paul’s experience in providing services to client’s in-house and in a full spectrum legal services firm mean that he is able to see client’s needs from the right commercial perspective and help with appropriate solutions. His 20-plus years of IP experience means he has the know-how to work with clients pragmatically and knowledgeably.
