At Appleyard Lees we provide support to clients with and without separate in-house IP departments.
Over the years, our attorneys have demonstrated that they have the professional and communication skills to win the confidence of both the R&D staff and IP professionals. Usually, we are the primary work producer but we have also frequently been used to provide an independent, external viewpoint on specific matters such as opposition and infringement assessments.
The support can be provided remotely or as a scheduled on-site visit. Examples of on-site visits which we have arranged in the past are drop-in sessions for engineers to discuss potential new innovations or catch-up meetings to work through outstanding deadlines. We are flexible and can provide on-site visits which are adapted to your working practice and needs. Our attorneys have the personal skills to fit in easily and make a success of such on-site visits.
Specific support for in-house attorneys
Appleyard Lees has several attorneys who previously worked in-house and are very familiar with issues that in-house attorneys often face, but private practice attorneys sometimes don’t such as IP landscaping, competitor analysis and departmental budget issues. This knowledge has been shared throughout our network.
We have provided a locum attorney on several occasions to cover maternity, sickness or recruitment shortages or to provide technical expertise in a particular area. Please contact us if you are interested in such in-house support.
